Police officer swarmed by mob and attacked with a hammer while helping assault victim on high street
video from the scene showed a number of police cars parked near Cranford Community College with blue lights flashing.spokesperson said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 8.15pm on Saturday, July 1 to reports of a stabbing close to High Street in Cranford.
"Officers attended and found a 31-year-old man with a slash wound. Whilst attempting to treat the man, officers were confronted by a large group of people. "One officer was injured after being struck with a hammer. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken arm."
