A large police presence was spotted at the incident in Cheetham Hill

Police stormed streets in Cheetham Hill on Sunday night following reports of a person armed with a gun that actually turned out to be a walking stick, the M.E.N understands.

Officers attended the scene on Bent Street and Elizabeth Street following reports that there had been concerns raised by a member of the public. It is understood that the call to emergency services was made at around 9.30pm on Sunday and that it was reported there was a person with a firearm. However, after police arrived, the Manchester Evening News understands that a walking stick had actually been mistaken for the gun in question, that nobody was arrested and the case was subsequently closed.

A screenshot from a video taken on Sunday show a number of police vehicles in attendance. There were also reports of armed officers and police dogs also at the scene before the incident was cleared around two hours later.
