A police officer is being criminally investigated for dangerous driving after two teenage boys died in a crash, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has said.were killed in an e-bike crash in Ely, Cardiff, in May. The investigation began following a referral from South Wales Police, after relevant CCTV footage came to light.
The investigation will focus on the police officers’ interaction with the teenagers before the collision, and the appropriateness and professionalism of the officers’ actions. They will also be investigating whether their actions warranted a police vehicle pursuit. “I wish to again extend my sympathies to the family and friends of Kyrees and Harvey, and to everyone who has felt the impactful loss of two young lives in Ely,” he said in a statement.
