Bad news for hay fever sufferers
People with hay fever in Nottinghamshire will be among the worst hit by a so-called 'pollen bomb' due to hit the UK this weekend. The Met Office has warned that the Midlands will be the worst hit area as temperatures could reach 26C or 27C on Saturday.
The Midlands, south of England, Wales and Northern Ireland are expected to see the worst of the pollen surge - and levels could remain high for some time, the Met Office said. A yellow heat health alert has also been issued with temperatures expected to soar.Met Office spokesperson Grahame Madge told Sky News : "[Sufferers will] only get a respite when the grass has shed all the available pollen or if we get significant rainfall, which will effectively wash the pollen out of the atmosphere.
