Pothole victim who nearly died after crashing bike slams Scotland's crumbling roads
A biker who is lucky to be alive after hitting a pothole has slammed Scotland's crumbling roads after defects were blamed for 15 deaths and more than 700 injuries.
The largest number of casualties, 94, was recorded in the Highlands and Islands. The division also recorded four fatalities for the period - the highest of any division. “I’m going to physio to see if they can do anything more for me and if not my bike will have to be sold. “There have been other people who have fallen off bikes since and been far worse injured than I was and they haven’t gotten anywhere either.“They spend so much money doing feasibility studies rather than sorting the holes and by that time there’s a new Transport Minister who’s not singing off the same hymn sheet as their predecessor, so nothing happens.
“Another issue is that you can damage your suspension or tyre hitting a pothole one day and that fails some time later, causing more crashes. That won’t be recorded as a pot hole incident on the day police turn up to that crash.
