She's been barred from the classroom
A former Head of Year at a Morecambe high school has been banned from teaching after being convicted over a predatory and illegal relationship with a pupil.
Reports at the time of her conviction heard that she touched the child's leg after offering her a lift in a car. It was also reported that she admitted kissing her in another incident at her home.Furney, 39, this week received further sanction as the Teaching Regulation Agency issued her with an indefinite ban from the profession.
The illegal relationship came to light in August 2020 when a complaint was made to the police by a former pupil relating to offences from several years earlier. In January 2021, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised criminal charges to be brought against the disgraced teacher.
