Premature baby declared 'stillborn' by doctors is found ALIVE at funeral home as body was prepared for burial
He collected the body at around 3am on Tuesday. A few hours later, while he was carrying out the procedures for the burial, he noticed that the baby sighed and that its heart was beating.
He immediately took the baby to the hospital, and the newborn was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for treatment.His grandmother said: “Yesterday he was moving a lot. He moved his legs and arms a lot and his heart rate is great.”The incident is being investigated by the Civil Police and the Public Ministry of Rondônia .
"I was outraged because I didn't see that effort of 'let's try to save this child's life anyway,'" the grandmother added. However, the Ariquemes health department insists that the baby arrived dead at the health unit and when it was taken at the funeral home. A spokesperson for Ariquemes health department said: "For me, it's a miracle. I saw the doctor talking and she was very clearly telling me that this baby was dead.The baby remains at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in the city while his mum has been discharged and is recovering at home.
