Preston City Council is reviewing the licence of Sylvester's Bar and Soul Lounge after a man was punched at a karaoke night. The bar's owner has been charged with assault and will be sentenced on October 31.
Preston City Council has received an application to review the licence of Sylvester's Bar and Soul Lounge, on Church Street, on the grounds of 'crime and disorder and public safety licensing objectives not being promoted by the premises'.
On Sunday, October 1, the newly renovated bar was hosting a karaoke and disco night, with last orders at 1.30am. However in the early hours of October 2, police were called to a report a man in his 60s had been punched and taken to hospital.The bar's owner James Peoples, 36, was arrested and later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm . Peoples, of Dodgson Place, Preston, appeared before magistrates on October 3.
