Preston Police have carried out a two-day operation to tackle the recent spike in bike thefts and anti-social behaviour in the city centre 👮
Over the course of the operation, which took place on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November, uniform and plain clothed officers from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team and Task Force patrolled hot spot areas.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft. He has since been released on bail whilst enquiries are ongoing.Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Preston, Insp Bernie Coburn, said: “Anti-social behaviour and theft is a high concern to all members of our community, which is why Preston Police are committed to doing what we can to prevent this kind of behaviour.
“You will see an increased police presence in Preston, but rest assured this is to keep you safe and take action where necessary so you can go about your daily business in peace.”Geek Retreat Preston closes after just eight months due to ‘sustained and severe’ anti-social behaviour “That’s why I am investing in more officers – with hundreds already in training, creating a dedicated ASB team, giving grants to prevent and deter crime and ensuring civil powers are used to maximum effect to disperse gangs and deal with individuals.
