A touching tribute

The organisers of this year's Nottinghamshire Pride event have dedicated the day to a man who died recently. Richie Clay, a former commercial director at the Nottingham Post, passed away in June aged 43.

The organisers of the LGBTQ+ march and entertainment, taking place this Saturday, July 29, in Nottingham city centre, said Mr Clay, who was part of the Pride team in 2017 and 2018, had "left a lasting legacy." They put out a message on social media on Wednesday following his funeral at Bramcote Crematorium, saying: "Today we said goodbye to our friend Richie Clay. Part of our Pride Team in 2017 and 2018. Richie left a lasting legacy. We will always remember you Richie. This year Notts Pride 23 is in your honour. Rest in Pride xx"

Instagram There followed an outpouring of love for Mr Clay, who is pictured on the left of the photo above. One woman said: "He was an amazing guy to work volunteer alongside at Notts Pride for the years he was there, he helped me when I started managing the volunteers and had no idea what I was doing. We've lost an amazing guy! RIP, thoughts are with friends and family."Mr Clay worked for Local World, the company which used to own the Nottingham Post, from 2014 to 2016.
