Police in Derry has asked the public to be vigilant after they received an early morning report that a device had been left in the city centre area.

The PSNI said that they were conducting checks in the John Street, Carlisle Road and Foyle Embankment areas of the city on Tuesday morning.Read more: PSNI sorry for "shortcomings" in murder investigation In a statement, they said: "At this time, nothing untoward has been found. As enquiries continue this morning, including further checks of these areas, the public is asked to be vigilant.
