'Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths'

Detectives, however, say the couple’s deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement released on Sunday morning, a police spokesperson said: “Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a man and a woman at a property in the Greenan Road area of Newry. “It is believed the deaths may have occurred some time ago. A post mortem has taken place and the deaths are not being treated as suspicious at this time, however enquiries are ongoing.”

No further details of the deceased have been released by police, however it is being reported this morning that the two people were a married older couple and may have been dead for a number of months.
