A Wirral pub will be given a new lease of life in a 'full works' refurbishment
The Argyll on Plymyard Avenue, Eastham, will receive £170,000 investment as Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars and new licensees Blind Tiger Inns work to revitalise it. The pub first opened in 1956 and was originally called The Argyll & Sutherland Highlander before becoming The Argyll.
A complete overhaul will take place indoors. New features will include booth seating, wall art, timber flooring and a modern bar with steel shelving. Blind Tiger Inns has three other pubs on Merseyside - The Aigburth Arms, The Grapes on Mathew Street and The Queens Arms in Aintree. Chris Tulloch, managing director of Blind Tiger Inns, said the company's aim here is to restore The Argyll & Sutherland as "a hub of the community and make it an asset to Eastham."
Mr Tulloch said: “The Argyll has lots of potential but is in need of TLC if it’s to thrive for the long term. We’ll be giving it the full works – it’ll be unrecognisable inside. We can’t wait to open the doors and show people their new-look local.”
