The budget supermarket chain, which already has a branch in Alexandria, has been targeting a move to Dumbarton since 2020 - and last week revealed the proposals for a new store on land off Castle Street.
Aldi have revealed £4.7million plans for a new store in Dumbarton - directly opposite the town’s Lidl. The announcement comes ahead of a public consultation at Riverside Parish Church on Wednesday, September 27 between 3pm and 7pm.
An Aldi spokeswoman said: “We are excited to be announcing our proposals for a new store in Dumbarton. “An Aldi store would bring significant investment of £6m to the local area, along with around 35 new jobs, whilst supporting other local businesses through our investment in the Scottish food and drink sector.
Dumbarton’s Lidl opened in early 2020, following a lengthy planning wrangle - with the project approved despite planning officials calling on councillors to refuse permission for a second time.
