, and they were unanimous in saying that they thought the evidence for deliberate burial provided in the paper was completely inadequate.
More devastatingly though, the third reviewer pointed out that the bones themselves can leach minerals into the surrounding sediment, and it’s therefore completely unsurprising that the sediment looks different in areas where there were bones compared to areas where there weren’t. Some of the points were about the paper missing important details. The second reviewer noted that the researchers didn’t even describe which parts of the skeletons were articulated or otherwise, and the fourth reviewer wrote that they didn’t even understand what the authors meant when they said thatarticulated and disarticulated bones could be evidence of deliberate burial – the paper, they said, was “written extremely poorly”.
