BREAKING: Christian Pulisic has been cleared to play for the USMNT against the Netherlands in their Round of 16 clash on Saturday.
Pulisic, who had admitted his fitness status was “day-to-day”, participated in the portion of training open to the media on Friday night in Qatar, fully working through the warm-up with the rest of the team.
Reporters were only allowed to view the first 15 minutes of the session, but Pulisic was doing short sprints and assorted agility exercises without any noticeable issue.also participated in the warmup and seemed just as mobile as Pulisic. Sargent had to be removed in the second half of the U.S.’s match against Iran after he suffered an ankle injury. His participation is also positive news for the U.S.
“I think with Christian, we’re hopeful,” Berhalter said. “I think with a little less so, but we’ll see. He’s gonna test it. … At this stage, it’s go time. If you can push through it, you do. So I’m sure he’ll have that mindset.”and Gio Reyna would have been candidates to replace him in the lineup on the wing.
