Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez put on a coaching school which Putellas attendedDespite boasting a star-studded squad, Spain have an underwhelming international record and have never even made it as far as the quarter-finals at a Women’s World Cup.
The two-time Ballon d’Or winner sparked concern earlier this week when she was seen leaving a training session after just 30 minutes - but a spokesperson for the team said this was part of her recovery programme.Putellas was cruelly ruled out of Euro 2022 and will have a point to prove at the World CupSpain’s path to the World Cup has already been a rocky one, though, and many of their key players from last year’s squad will not be present for this summer’s tournament.
It is believed Putellas is one of the players who has since held talks with the RFEF in private in an attempt to resolve the conflict - but only some of the 15 players have since returned to the squad. Spain have been placed in Group C alongside 2011 champions Japan, Costa Rica and Zambia who are all ranked below them.
