Private equity investor Thoma Bravo's portfolio swells
Qlik has closed its acquisition of Talend, tying together two data analytics and visualizion vendors backed by private equity biz Thoma Bravo.
The resulting combined company will be led by CEO Mike Capone, formerly CEO of Qlik. Christal Bemont, former Talend CEO, left earlier this year during the take-over process as an interim management team took charge. Finacials of the deal were not disclosed. In a pre-canned statement, Capone claimed: “Qlik's broad expertise in data integration, analytics, AI and machine learning combined with Talend's data integration and data quality solutions, will provide customers the most comprehensive solution in the industry.”with US regulators for an initial public offering return to public markets, roughly six years after its private equity buyout. The company said it continued to"monitor the market conditions" regarding its IPO plans.
Qlik was founded in 1993 in Sweden. It was one of a group of vendors, which included Tableau and Talend, which spotted a gap in the market for desktop visualization tools. In August 2016, Thoma Bravo executed a private equity buyout of Qlik for $3 billion six years after itsQlik claims to support 40,000 customers in over 100 countries, with global firms including Airbus, Ford and Deloitte among its accounts.
