Queen Elizabeth's nod to husband Prince Philip in COP26 video speech after pulling out of appearance
The Queen has made a touching tribute to her late husband Prince Philip as she delivered a speech to the COP26 summit via a video.
In the clip, she told viewers: "I am delighted to welcome you all to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference; and it is perhaps fitting that you have come together in Glasgow, once a heartland of the industrial revolution, but now a place to address climate change. She used her address to pay tribute to her late husband the Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away in April this year, and his efforts in raising the profile of the issue of climate change.
Queen Elizabeth also had a photograph of her husband placed on a table behind her, showing the Duke of Edinburgh stood amongst dozens of orange butterflies. She said: "It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet, lives on through the work of our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William. I could not be more proud of them."
