The Boxing Day sales are currently underway, with discounts to be found at many of Liverpool's popular city centre stores and online.
However, this year's sales have proved to be quieter than usual, with only a few shops attracting queues of shoppers. The Boxing Day sales have traditionally seen shoppers hit the high street in an attempt to bag a bargain, but only a select number of shops have had queues form outside today. With the cost of living crisis forcing shoppers to cut back and the ongoing train strikes making it harder for people to travel into the city centre, there may be several reasons why people have opted to stay at home this year. Additionally, some popular shops including Next are only offering Boxing Day discounts online today, with their in store sales set to commence tomorrow.Some stores are also closed today to allow retail staff to enjoy a well-earned break with their families.
Despite a quieter year overall, some stores still managed to attract a queue of customers this morning. Queues of excited shoppers could be found outside Lush and Cricket, with both stores proving to be popular with those who headed into the city centre.
