The 56-year-old rapper reportedly filed multiple arguments outlining why he believed the conviction should be overturned. The points he raised claimed there was a potentially biased jury and that he was misled about the age of the individuals – who were minors at the time – that he had relationships with, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

Officially filed by his attorney Jennifer Bonjean on Tuesday, Kelly is supposedly looking to either the appeals reverse his convictions or order a fresh trial. As per the documents, the star’s legal team believed the government ‘did not meet its burden of proof in court’, despite the jury finding him guilty on all counts at the time fo his trial.The star was sentenced to 30 years in prison His sentence was handed down by Judge Ann M. Donnelly in Brooklyn Federal Court, where she was heard telling the artist that he created ‘a trail of broken lives’.‘These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years.
