Ennis cowardly resigned before he could be judged before a disciplinary panel

A shameful Merseyside Police officer has quit the force after he accidentally sent a colleague a recording of himself shouting ''appalling'' racist remarks at a black man on television during a news report. Officer, PC James Ennis single-handedly destroyed his career last year when he mistakenly forwarded a disgusting racist voice note on WhatsApp to a fellow police officer who reported it.

The ruled outcome means he will not be able to hold any form of policing job in the UK as he has been placed on the College of Policing barred list. A two day disciplinary hearing took place was month before an independent chair, which found Ennis guilty of breaching the force's standard of professional behaviour, to the level of gross misconduct.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "The officer had been watching the news and was heard to be shouting racist language at a black person featured in the news item." Deputy Chief Constable Ian Critchley added: "We acknowledge the outcome of the hearing and the judgement of the Panel. "The racist language used by this officer was appalling and this outcome yet again shows that we will take a zero-tolerance approach to racism within our force.
