Drone footage was taken of the blaze
Eight fire engines were called out to tackle a blaze at the Northampton Network Rail Depot fire last night, Tuesday June 28. The fire which started shortly before 6.40pm send plumes of smoke into the sky above the depot in Cotton End, Far Cotton.
Electricity supplies to homes were disconnected while firefighters were tackling the flames so workers from Western Power could isolate the gas and electric supply to make the old brick building safe. The power outage remained in place for a number of hours while St Leonards Road, London Road, West Cotton Close and Pomfret Close were closed to traffic.The fire was finally brought under control, but firefighters were still on the scene dampening down at 9.30pm. Roads nearby reopened by 10.
A spokesperson from the fire service said: "Thank you for your patience and co-operation during this incident. It shows Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service officers spraying water on the site as huge plumes of smoke rise up from the site.
