The footballer took time out of his day to chat and take photos with the youngsters.

Rangers captain James Tavernier stopped by Barlia Football Centre in Castlemilk on Friday where local kids were enjoying Free Play during the school holidays.

They said: "We had a surprise visit today from Rangers captain, James Tavernier who happily spent time getting photos with kids who were at Barlia for Free Play today. "Safe to say he was impressed that we open the gates to provide free access for local kids to kick a ball during the school holidays."

Thanks to Glasgow City Council funding and local food action group Castlemilk Together, some sessions also include lunches, providing a much-needed service for local families.
