12-year-old Rangers fan Dee Thomson was on dialysis for years due to kidney failure before his dad David donated a kidney to him. He is now desperate to get back to playing football with his friends.

A young Rangers fan who has been on dialysis for years due to kidney failure has been given hope of a brighter future after his 'superhero' dad donated a kidney to him.

Mum Helen, 44, said David, 48, and Dee are 'as thick as thieves' following the surgery on August 23. She said that while Dee was a "perfectly healthy baby", he suddenly became unwell when he was six-years-old, the Daily Record reports.She said: "Dee was a perfectly healthy baby and he had no problems at all until he was six when one day he woke up and was really puffy.

Helen, who gave up her job to care for Dee full-time, said: "After a couple of years his kidneys failed him and stopped working. Dee, who is the youngest of the family, had dialysis four days a week for four hours at a time and had to dramatically change his diet. He also struggled with not being able to socialise the way he did before.
