Former Metropolitan Police officer Adam Provan has been jailed for 16 years for multiple sex attacks A former Metropolitan Police officer who raped a 16-year-old girl and a female police officer multiple times has been jailed for 16 years.
Adam Provan, 44, was also given a further eight years on extended licence during sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday. Provan committed all of the offences while he was a serving officer in the Met’s east area command unit, the court heard. Judge Noel Lucas KC said the “persistence and seriousness” of the police officer’s offending was clear.
He said the particularly “troubling” aspect was that he was a police officer and “someone members of the public have an entitlement to feel was someone of the highest trustworthiness”.In June, Provan was found guilty of the double rape of the 16-year-old girl in 2010 and six counts of rape against a fellow Metropolitan Police officer.This story is being updated
