Best known for creating the socially inept media personality - he is no stranger to playing complicated characters
It’s safe to say that this man needs no introduction. Born and raised in Middleton, Steve Coogan has gone from humble beginnings to being a household name.
The makers of the programme were “working closely with many people whose lives were impacted by Savile to ensure their stories are told with sensitivity and respect”, the BBC said in a statement. Three years passed, during which he had his first stand-up at the Hacienda in 1986. But it was a phone call from his agent whilst sitting with friends in the canteen that changed his life forever.
Coogan created Partridge while working with writer, director and radio producer Armando Iannuci on the radio series On The Hour. On The hour then became a TV series called The Day Today.
