North Yorkshire County Council says the Swinney Beck crossing would last longer than a wooden frame.
The bridge was replaced after Richard King, pictured on the left with his dog Merlin, raised concerns about its poor condition
The newly-installed footbridge crossing Swinney Beck, near Masham, would "last longer than a timber frame", North Yorkshire County Council said. Its replacement will not require maintenance due to the materials used, a council spokesperson added.
