Brighten up Kirkconnel and Kellholm and The People's Project in Dumfries were recognised by the judges
An inspiring group of people who have devoted hundreds of hours to make their community bloom and grow have been recognised for their hard work in the Beautiful Scotland Awards.
Brighten up Kirkconnel & Kelloholm – who celebrate their 20th anniversary next year – have received more than 160 congratulatory comments and grateful thanks from residents and visitors on their social media page, showing how much their tireless work means to the local community. “It just makes us feel that we want to carry on and do more to help make a difference to the environment. Thank you to the Beautiful Scotland judges, and to all those in the local community and organisations who have helped and played a part in this success.
Beautiful Scotland judges Colin Ainsworth and Sarah Turnill came to see the group’s effort for themselves in August, resulting in the awards. The judges looked for horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.
