Taking place over the August Bank Holiday every year, Manchester Pride celebrates the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture and life. As always, the festivities will be centred around Canal Street in Manchester's Gay Village, which has grown since the start of the 1990s to become one of Europe's most lively gay areas.
Of course, this isn't a comprehensive list, so if you think any we have missed should get a mention then let us know in the comments below. Happy Pride! Equinox This Bloom Street club was described in the Manchester Evening News in 1994 as "not specifically a gay night or a straight night". But the door policy encouraged admission of a glamorous mixed crowd of "pretty boys and girls, eccentrics and outrageous fashion victims" of all ages, colours and sexualities.
'Flesh' at the Hacienda Flesh was a gay night started at the legendary Hacienda club that went on to become a legendary monthly club night in the '90s. Described as a breath of fresh air on the club scene, it was an instant success attracting sell out crowds despite being held on a Wednesday. Once a shipping warehouse, the building of Cruz 101 had been stripped of its interior and replaced with a nightclub like nothing Canal Street had ever seen before. The lack of blacked-out curtains and a bold aesthetic made sure, from the moment you walked in, that you knew this was something completely different.
