Reparations for Tulsa race massacre dismissed by judge by LeahMahon_

REPARATIONS CALLS for a racist massacre that erupted in Tulsa have been dismissed by an Oklohoma judge.

Lessie Benningfield Randle, Viola Fletcher and Hughes Van Ellis are all over 100 years old and lived in the blossoming Greenwood neighbourhood known as the “Black Wall Street” before tragedy struck. On Friday, Judge Caroline Wall rejected the reparations case with prejudice which now means it cannot be refiled. In conclusion, the City of Tulsa said that “simply being connected to a historical event does not provide a person with unlimited rights to seek compensation from any project in any way related to that historical event.”

Following the blow, the family’s did not immediately respond but it is expected they will appeal the decision with their attorney’s.“The city remains committed to finding the graves of 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre victims, fostering economic investment in the Greenwood District, educating future generations about the worst event in our community’s history, and building a city where every person has an equal opportunity for a great life,” he said.
