Residents entitled to Working Tax Credit or receiving Universal Credit can land a 50p bonus for every £1 saved over four years.
"However, the scheme is being held back by low take-up, with just 350,000 accounts opened since launch in 2018. The government initially hoped it would benefit ten times that many. The government should therefore expand the scheme and look to increase take-up.
It is paid directly into people's bank accounts rather than their Help to Save. During the Spring Budget, the Chancellor said he would extend the scheme and consult on support for low-income savers.Child Tax Credit – and you are entitled to Working Tax Credit;
