RESIDENTS were evacuated from their homes after a fire ripped through a former care home.West Dunbartonshire

warned locals of the G81 area to stay in their homes and keep windows and doors closed as fire crews battled the blaze on Ottawa Crescent.Nearby roads were also closed as a precaution.A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.36pm on Saturday, August 6 to reports of a fire affecting a derelict building on Ottawa Crescent, Clydebank.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the scene, where crews remain in attendance as they work to extinguish the fire.spokesperson said:"The emergency services are dealing with a major fire at a property in Ottawa Crescent, Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. "A number of roads in the area have been closed and residents close to the fire have been evacuated as a precaution. The public should avoid the area.

"Clydemuir Primary School has been opened for any residents who have been evacuated. Those who have not been evacuated are advised to keep their windows closed.
