The dangerous driving of scramblers has become an issue of growing concern in parts of West Belfast
and is leaving some in the community fearing for their safety.
One of the recent arrests was made following a crash in the Colin Glen Forest Park area. It was here that mother-of-three Valerie Armstrong was hit by an illegal scrambler seven years ago and later died. "Now we're finding that this has spread to housing estates and the main roads, which makes it even more dangerous for pedestrians and children if there's a scrambler flying about that could potentially cause serious harm.
"There is fear in the community of a potential accident and we'll do whatever we can to respond to that. Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Róisín Brown said: “We know scramblers are causing huge concern within our community through annoyance and disruption.
