Christine McCann, a self-described "menopausal Barbie" from Irvingstown, took up CrossFit at the age of 48 and now, aged 56 she has won Gold at the weightlifting World Championships in Poland.
"CrossFit has made weightlifting a very big sport at the minute and I decided to enter a few competitions this year for the craic." "Because it is very technical sport you can get no rep very easily and if you declare a weight you have to stay at that weight until you get it.""I wasn't allowed to look at the board, but the coaches were doing that," she added."After I had won the Europeans, I wasn't going to go to the worlds because I thought there is no way, these dolls will timber me!"
