Among British holidaymakers, there is strong demand for last-minute summer holidays and Rhodes is among the destinations receiving bookings over the past week efeatherstone_ reports
Karl Douglas of Beverley Travel, a travel agent and Advantage travel partner, in Yorkshire, said: “Bookings for all key destinations remain really strong, but Rhodes is proving to be one of the most popular holiday spots, despite the recent wildfires. Pricing is always a key factor at this stage in the season, and this will be driving demand for some last-minute summer sunshine.Emma McVeigh, who lives in Edinburgh, and is taking the holiday with her partner and two friends.
“However, we are constantly monitoring the situation and will continue to do so. We want to support the local economy on Rhodes, as the fires have a direct impact on tourism and hospitality businesses.” There are low-cost, last-minute breaks to be found on the islands, although it would be advisable to research the location of your accommodation and speak to your travel provider before booking.
At the time of writing, Tui was listing week-long Rhodes breaks in August for less than £600 per person, including flights andMs Lo Bue-Said added: “It’s been another exceptional week for holiday sales, and even though we are now well into the peak summer period, we are continuing to see a massive demand to get away on last-minute holidays.
“The combination of the continued dreary weather, and the availability of some good last-minute deals, are clearly encouraging Brits to go abroad for some last-minute sunshine and warmth before Autumn arrives.”
