Repatriation flights have begun returning hundreds of holidaymakers from Rhodes, as scores of people were forced to spend the weekend sleeping rough as wildfires burned down properties and hotels. Live updates:

In earlier posts we reported tweets from Tui customers who were unhappy with where the company had sheltered them on the island.A British tourist has described the"horrendous" conditions he and his family endured while they were evacuated from their hotel. "Then somebody told us to go towards the beach so we turned down towards the beach. Then we had to wade through the sea to get to a fishing boat to get away. The children were crying, it was horrendous."As Britons begin to land back in the UK, Darren Pickersgill told Sky News he and his wife were ushered out of their hotel room late on Sunday night and asked to “just take your belongings” and go.
He said the airline has been very helpful: “You know, we've been kept near one of the reps and he’s just sort of kept us updated.”Authorities have evacuated 2,400 people from Corfu today after tens of thousands of people fled blazes on the island of Rhodes. Eleni tweeted to say locals have offered her water and food, claiming they have put the companies to shame.Jet2 responded:"We have significantly increased our presence on the island too, with experienced colleagues arriving from other destinations, as well as a dedicated senior team flying from the UK to Rhodes yesterday.
