The Assheton Arms in the beautifully-set village of Downham at the foot of Pendle Hill, is scheduled to reopen in February 2023 after it was acquired by hospitality group, Bowland Inns & Hotels. It is the parent company behind Bowland Brewery and the James’ Places collection and also runs major Lancashire leisure and hospitality venues including Holmes Mills, Eaves Hall, Mitton Hall and the Waddington Arms.
READ MORE: We stayed in an alpine lodge in the Ribble Valley and it was like being in a five-star ski resort However, it is now set to get a new lease of life and James Warburton, who chairman is the Bowland Inns & Hotels and also a former Downham resident, says the company is "absolutely delighted" to have secured the "wonderful pub".
While the Honourable Ralph Assheton confirmed the acquisition and said: “Since [the start of the year] we have taken the opportunity to carry out a number of essential repairs to the main building and its 12 letting rooms, as well as redecorating the exterior and sprucing up the garden areas.”
