The Prime Minister wants to distance himself from his predecessor, but he needs to take more care to keep himself out of trouble on issues of ethics

Six months ago, Rishi Sunak came to power telling the nation that his Government would have “integrity, professionalism, and accountability at every level”, adding: “Trust is earned and I will earn yours.”because he no longer trusted him to lead with integrity, and members of the Sunak team have expressed frustration at the legacy left them by the former prime minister, including deep mistrust from MPs, media and the public.

Mr Sunak does not have the same casual disregard for the truth as his mercurial predecessor. But he has not proven to be such a new broom as he promised.
