Organisers had hoped to reach 7,777 entries.
Rob Burrow has sent a message of thanks to the city of Leeds after the marathon named in his honour reached 10,000 entries. Burrow, whose battle with Motor Neurone Disease has captured worldwide attention, will be among those who take part in the event as he and his friend Kevin Sinfield take part together.
The route will see entrants start and finish at Headingley Stadium, where Burrow enjoyed a legendary playing career alongside. The route will take in the likes of Woodhouse Moor, Bramhope and Otley.In a message to those that have entered so far, Burrow said: "I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who signed up to take part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. With your support we have already exceeded the initial target of 7,777 runners.
