Bogus Preston roofer jailed again for ripping off retired Lancashire victims A bogus roofer who subjected his victims to "bill after bill for unnecessary and botched work" has been jailed after conning elderly residents in Lancashire for a second time. George Kenneth Howard Austin convinced his 64-year-old victim, from Garstang, to have roofing work done without giving her a cancellation notice setting out her rights to cancel the contract, after agreeing the work on her doorstep in August 2021.
Darren O'Connor carried out unnecessary treatments and destroyed the woman's furniture as he pretended to fumigate the property. The woman's home was left so bare she was forced to sleep on a plastic garden chair for three months after O'Connor sawed her sofa in half and took it to an incinerator.
