Rolls-Royce has confirmed it is proposing to cut up to 2,500 jobs as part of a cost-cutting drive. The Derby-based company says it wants to become a "simpler, more streamlined organisation."
Sky News first quoted people 'close to the situation' saying cuts were likely to affect UK staff. As well as its Derby premises, Rolls-Royce's presence in the East Midlands previously included a site in Hucknall, which it later transferred to its ITP Aero engine-making subsidiary company.ITP Aero was then sold in 2021 to a consortium of Spanish and Basque companies. Rolls-Royce's Nottinghamshire presence still includes its work with the University of Nottingham.
