Rory McIlroy insists he would rather retire than play in a LIV Golf event
with LIV Golf's backers, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, after a year-long civil war.US Senate subcommittee investigativeAs part of a 'Best Of Both Worlds' presentation, the PIF wanted Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods to own LIV franchises and play in ten events each year.
McIlroy has been a fierce critic of the breakaway league, recently admitting he still 'hates it' and 'hopes it goes away' as part of the PGA Tour's new alliance with the Saudis. The proposal did not make the final framework agreement - and the Northern Irishman has now insisted he will never play in a LIV event.
