The move is part of an ongoing restructuring designed to streamline processes and save £40m a year.
Royal Mail plans to cut around 700 management jobs as it simplifies its operational structures this year.
That has lead to severe delays to some deliveries, particularly during the festive period, and the threat of fines from the regulator Ofcom. In the first year of the pandemic Royal Mail saw rising demand for its services as people switched to shopping from home.
