“How I would feel if protests stopped me personally from completing the race on Sunday? I’d be extremely disappointed. I’ve run over 400km in training since January; morning, night, rain, shine, into the wind, whatever the weather… And I’m running in memory of my Nan and Great Aunty who both passed away after suffering a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
The campaign group also called for jump racing to be banned after two other horses also died during the festival stating that authorities must take action to stop the “brutal horrors” from happening again.Climate change activist Louis McKechnie ran onto the pitch and used a zip tie to attach himself to the goalpost by his neck.
The Just Stop Oil protester was also given a £50 fine, or one day in detention, for going on to the playing area, as well as receiving a three-year ban and being ordered to pay £500 towards prosecution costs.
