A reported 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees have now fled to neighbouring countries, while it is thought the number could rise to as many as four million by July.
The United Nations says there have been more than 1,000 civilian casualties since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has published a civilian casualty report which covers the period of 4am on 24 February to midnight on 4 March.Ukrainian soldiers prepare for a Russian advance on Kyiv However, the OHCHR believes the real figures are considerably higher, especially in government-controlled territories.
In the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian Parliament's Telegram channel said 52 civilians had been killed in Russian attacks and 267 injured. That is without taking into account the dead or wounded residents of the besieged southeastern cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha, where it is extremely difficult to obtain data.Meanwhile, according to the Reuters news agency, Ukraine has reported that more than 11,000 Russian troops have been killed since the invasion began on 24 February.
