Police had linked three deaths and five cardiac arrests to a stronger than normal batch of drugs
People using non-prescribed drugs sourced on the internet or sold in the street are playing "Russian roulette", an addiction charity has warned after police linked an extra strong batch to three deaths.
The Public Health Agency has also said it is aware of deaths where suspected pregabalin use, alongside other drugs, had occurred.Dessie Kyle, from the addiction charity HURT in Derry, said the drugs in question are likely sourced from the internet or the black market with "no quality control". "As the police mentioned, these particular ones that seem to have caused the damage are four times stronger and who knows what's in them."
