Akeem Chand flaunted his wealth in increasingly lavish music videos

A court hearing is set in the new year to seize any cash or assets made by the leader of a violent, gun-toting gang of drug dealers who flaunted his wealth in increasingly lavish music videos. The Akeem Chand gang had the organisation, the manpower and fire-power of a small army in which to defend their own drugs empire from invaders, and he flaunted his wealth with others in his music videos.

Judge James Sampson had told Chand he was the leader of the group and at the heart of every firearms incident in the case. "You are a ruthless and criminally ambitious individual who holds sway over others and who will never relinquish power voluntarily even when in prison. Escoffery, 26, formerly of Fenton Road, Basford, had been involved in planning a shooting which was thwarted by police. He received a 23-year sentence, with a five-year extended licence, for conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life. Lesser concurrent sentences were passed on the remaining charges.
