A DUP councillor sanctioned in a standards watchdog probe is having his legal bill covered by a council insurance policy costing ratepayers almost £30,000 a year.
It has now emerged the council has an insurance policy which covers Mr Smyth's legal costs in the long-running case. The council was unable to confirm how much the legal costs were in Mr Smyth's case, saying it "does not hold the information regarding that legal bill".
