Deion Sanders made his Colorado coaching debut on Saturday in front of a sold out crowd for the Buffaloes' spring game at Folsom Field. Colorado's was the lone college football spring game broadcast on ESPN this year.

Shedeur, the son of Deion Sanders, found Hunter in the back of the end zone for a touchdown on the game’s opening drive. Hunter, the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class who followed his coach and quarterback from Jackson State, also caught a pass on the game’s opening play and stayed on the field to play cornerback with the No. 1 defense. Other than special teamers, he was the lone player on the field wearing a gray jersey so he could play both offense and defense.

Colorado handed over the duties of creating a scoring system to ESPN, who handed out points for touchdowns and takeaways, as well as sacks, extended drives, pass breakups, three-and-outs, chunk plays and other positive plays in the defense versus offense exhibition.for a 98-yard touchdown. Lemonious-Craig also had an acrobatic, contested, 39-yard catch earlier in the game and had another acrobatic touchdown during seven-on-seven drills in the fourth quarter.

“On game day shows up. You can’t double Trav and expect nobody else to get it,” Shedeur Sanders said. “You can’t double someone else because that gives us a one-on-one with Trav. That puts people in a bind because by the time the first game comes, we’re going to have for sure, a solid five, six guys that can go. A solid five or six guys that if there’s a one-on-one on the field, the ball’s going there.

Said Hunter who had never played a game in the snow: “When I walked out the door and got to campus I was kind of like, ‘Dang, I don’t know about this one, Coach. We might have to go in the indoor.’ I hope the pictures came out well.” Colorado’s previous spring game attendance record was 17,800 in 1990, the year the Buffaloes won the national title. Around 1,000 fans attended the event in 2021. But despite the weather, last year’s 1-11 record and tickets costing $10, it sold out weeks before the game, and those who bought tickets showed up.
